On Monday, Sept. 14, Aspinall announced he is vacating the undisputed UFC heavyweight title. Ongoing eye complications — Brown’s syndrome aftermath, multiple surgeries, accidents, and infections — mean he cannot get medically cleared to fight. He said he had agreed a fight date, returned to sparring, then suffered further damage to his right eye. Ciryl Gane remains the interim heavyweight champion — TKO of Alex Pereira at Freedom 250 on June 14, 2026 — and is the only belt-holder who can currently fight.
