Carlos Ulberg is still the UFC light heavyweight champion, and his belt still has no next fight. As of Thursday morning, Oct. 8, his UFC.com athlete page lists him as Title Holder with no upcoming bout, and both UFC.com rankings boards list him as light heavyweight champion. No interim title appears on UFC.com, and none of the upcoming events on UFC.com's schedule lists a light heavyweight title bout.
What has changed since our Sept. 22 report is the top of the contender line. UFC.com now lists Jiří Procházka vs. Navajo Stirling as the main event of its Saturday, Nov. 21 Fight Night at ABHA Arena in Doha, Qatar.
The wait
Ulberg won the title by knocking out Procházka at UFC 327 in Miami on April 11, 2026. UFC.com lists the finish at 3:45 of the first round. He hurt his knee in that fight. In an April 23 UFC.com feature, Ulberg confirmed the injury was an ACL, and the feature says he had surgery in Las Vegas on April 16 before starting rehab at the UFC Performance Institute. Ulberg told UFC.com the plan going into surgery was six to eight months, and said his early progress was ahead of that.
UFC.com has not published a return date or a booking for him since. His athlete page lists him at 15-1-0 and No. 15 on the men's pound-for-pound list.
Nov. 21: Procházka vs. Stirling
UFC.com's event page lists the main card at 1:00 p.m. EST and the prelims at 10:00 a.m. EST, both on Paramount+. It lists Procházka vs. Stirling as a Light Heavyweight Bout: not a title fight, and not billed as an eliminator.
Procházka is No. 2 on UFC.com's media-panel light heavyweight rankings and No. 3 on the Meta board. His athlete page lists him at 32-6-1, and his last fight was the April loss to Ulberg. Stirling is No. 5 on the media panel and No. 6 on Meta, and UFC.com lists him unbeaten at 11-0-0. His most recent fight was a first-round stoppage of Jan Błachowicz on Aug. 1, 2026. The event page bills the pair No. 2 and No. 5. (The media panel was last updated Tuesday, Oct. 6; the Meta board Saturday, Oct. 3.)
The rest of the top of the division
Magomed Ankalaev is No. 1 on the media panel and No. 2 on Meta. His UFC.com athlete page lists no upcoming fight.
Alex Pereira is No. 3 on the media panel and No. 1 on Meta at light heavyweight, but his next booked fight is at heavyweight: UFC.com lists Sergei Pavlovich vs. Alex Pereira as a Heavyweight Bout at UFC 335 on Dec. 12.
Khalil Rountree Jr. is No. 4 on the media panel and No. 5 on Meta. His athlete page lists no upcoming fight.
The nearest ranked light heavyweight bout is at UFC 333 on Oct. 24, where UFC.com lists Azamat Murzakanov vs. Dominick Reyes. They are No. 7 and No. 8 on the media panel; the event page bills them No. 8 and No. 10. It is also a non-title bout.
What UFC has not said
UFC.com has not said what Procházka vs. Stirling means for the title, has not named a next challenger for Ulberg and has not created an interim belt. Until that changes, the light heavyweight picture is a champion in rehab, a ranked main event in Doha on Nov. 21 and no title date.
