Titan FC 58: Rivera vs Sabatello on UFC Fight Pass

American Top Team’s undefeated Danny Sabatello (6-0) faces the Titan FC bantamweight champion Irwin Rivera in a five-round bout, at Titan FC 58: Rivera vs Sabatello in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on Friday night.

“It’s a title shot of five rounds, a bit different from my past fights but it’s all the same sh-t really. I’m going to go out there and beat the sh-t out of this guy and collect a check,” Sabatello said.

“Getting this Titan FC belt would mean a lot. It’s just another stepping stone in my journey, but it’s a big step up in competition, in front of a lot of people.”

A lot of Sabatello’s focus is on his standup. The 26-year-old Illinois native went to Purdue and qualified three times in the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. He also won back-to-back state titles at Stevenson High School nearby his hometown of Long Grove.

Sabatello trains at ATT’s main gym in Coconut Creek with five different coaches. UFC fighters Pedro Munhoz and Charles Rosa have been Sabatello’s training partners since he began at the gym.

“They both took a liking in me because my high-level wrestling background. We stuck with that relationship until this day,” Sabatello said. “We are helping each other out in areas that we are experts in.”

American Top Team’s boxing coach Gabriel de Oliveira has been working on the wrestler’s standup, an emphasis on his distance.

“We’ve been working on controlling my distance. Since I have long arms, I have a good jab. So we’ve been establishing the jab to keep guys away,” Sabatello said. “Then also, using the jab to get in and punch so I can take guys down.”

Sabatello makes the list in MMA rankings as one of the hottest prospects in the rise. The Titan FC bantamweight look’s to be a future UFC fighter, he’s been waiting on the call.

“I’ve been wanting to go to the UFC for a while. I’m waiting by the phone. I feel like a win here will kind of solidify to show that I’m ready,” he said. “I’m 6-0 and I have five first-round finishes. I’m winning in an exciting fashion.”

Titan FC 58: Rivera vs Sabatello will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass this Friday night at 8 p.m. ET, live at Fort Lauderdale’s Xtreme Action Park.
