Anthony “Showtime” Pettis will take on Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson this Saturday, March 23rd at UFC Fight Night. The event is being held in Nashville, Tennessee. Anthony states “My career has definitely been through a bunch of different phases.”
Pettis is moving up one weight class to take on Thompson, and he assesses this change as just another chapter in what has been both an illustrious, yet rocky career. Pettis made his first mark as a competitor in the WEC where he achieved a highlight reel move jumping off the cage to land a kick to the face of rival, Benson Henderson.
Both Thompson and Pettis have distinguished themselves as master class MMA strikers possessing both speed and accuracy when going in for the finish. Stephen Thompson will be making his 14th UFC appearance sporting a current UFC record of 9-3-1 with his lone draw being the 2016 Championship fight with Tyron Woodley.
It will be interesting to see how Pettis performs at the higher weight class. Recent photos show him with visibly more muscle mass, and his competitive spirit will be a deciding factor in the fight outcome. Both fighters are super-talented and hungry to extend their legacies, so this UFC Fight Night promises to deliver fireworks that fans will love from start to finish.
